Smoked Duck Quesadilla at Armadillo“Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.” – Harriet Van Horne

One of my last nights in Florida, I dined at Armadillo Cafe in Boca Raton with Hillary. She is a frequent guest of the restaurant, and for very good reason. The place has a unique menu and tasty dishes.

We grabbed a spot at the bar, and Hillary asked the chef, Kevin McCarthy, what he recommended. He suggested the smoked duck quesadilla with Jack cheese, sour cream, and cranberry pear chutney. I love duck, but I am not a fan of cranberries. However, the chutney complimented the duck so wonderfully that I ended up eating all the cranberries! This was a great introduction to the wonderful flavors of Armadillo.

Pistachio Encrusted MozzarellaNext, Hillary ordered one of her favorite dishes, the pistachio crusted mozzarella with ripe pears, garden greens and lemon-basil vinaigrette. The salad was so fresh, and the cheese was delicious.

Everything was so fabulous, we had to order dessert. Since I am a chocolate lover, I ordered the chocolate fritters. They were amazing and melted in my mouth. Just when I thought the food could not get any better, the dessert blew me away!
